Answers:
1. What is CD Group Accelerate for Oracle
Business Intelligence (BI)?
CD Group Accelerate for Oracle® BI is a solution
that leverages pre-defined data relationships and
templates in various subject areas such as Sales,
Inventory and General Ledger analysis. These
frameworks connect to your JD Edwards environment
using the OBIEE platform, providing a quick
implementation and deployment approach, while
keeping the necessary flexibility to fit your
business requirements.
2. What are the Software and Hardware
requirements to implement CD Group’s Accelerate
models successfully?
The Accelerate models run on Windows 2003 server.
For Hardware, see the bullets below. These are just
recommendations, as specifications can vary.
- Processor: Quad Core Xeon E5420
Processor2x6MB Cache, 2.5GHz, 1333MHz FSB
- Memory: 8GB 667 MHz (4x2GB), Dual Ranked
Fully Buffered DIMMs
- Hard Drive: 250 GB 7.2K RPM Serial ATA 2Gbps
3.5-in HotPlug Hard Drive – Quantity 3
3. Who performs the installations?
All hardware and network environments need to be
in place before the beginning of the project. CD
Group will perform the installation of the OBIEE
tools and Accelerate model. Customer is encouraged
to be involved in this process, but that is not a
requirement.
4. What am I actually paying for when I buy
Accelerate?
The Accelerate repository contains the primary
Sales, General Ledger and Inventory tables and their
various relationships, and connects directly to JD
Edwards environments. It also contains “Business
User” views of the data with folders such as
Business Unit, Customer, Material and Time, rather
than technical tables/folders such as F4211, F4102,
F0006…etc. Starting this process from scratch would
require hundreds of hours to accomplish.
5. How will Accelerate understand my
user-defined JDE settings, such as category codes
and date patterns?
Prior to the project start date, customer will
complete the Accelerate Repository Variables
document / questionnaire. This document provides CD
Group with all the needed information to properly
configure the system to fit your JDE parameters.
6. What databases are supported by Accelerate?
This offer is a database independent solution. It is
supported with any version of MS SQL Server, Oracle,
DB2, and others.
7. How long does it take for data to be
available for reporting using Accelerate?
Accelerate was developed with quick deployment in
mind. Users should be able to create dashboards and
reports in 2 to 3 weeks from project start date.
8. Is Accelerate customizable? Can I bring
data from additional sources into the model?
Absolutely.
Accelerate can be customized to fit your needs
beyond the original model. These customizations,
however, fall outside of the “Phase 1” portion of
the project, and need to be discussed and scoped on
a per case basis.
9. Can Data Security be Implemented using
Accelerate?
Accelerate can be configured to support group, job
function and user level security
10. Is any training involved in this offer?
Yes. Our consultants will perform high level
training on the functionality of OBIEE tools as well
as security. The client should be able to perform
daily operations and administration after completing
the training. A turnover document describing the
main steps in the implementation process is also
provided. It is important to keep in mind, however,
that our knowledge transfer training is not a
replacement for the training course offered by
Oracle, especially if the resources involved are
completely new to business intelligence development
processes.
11. Will CD Group consultants perform the work
on-site or remotely?
That’s your call. We should be able to perform all
the work remotely, but we are available to work
on-site if necessary.
12. How do I learn more or get in contact with
CD Group?
To request a personal demonstration or to learn more
about any of CD Group’s offerings, call
